Why can’t servers just stay up… why don’t they have when I need them most

I know servers really don’t look this bad, but for as much as I don’t understand them, it could look like this for all I know!   And I must have some of the worst luck because every time I am serious need of the internet, the server goes down.  What does that even mean?

I figure that it is just a big computer that allow all the computers to link together and get to the internet.  Then what causes it to break down as often as it does, isn’t it just a gateway that is transferring information.   Shouldn’t a restart fix all the problems like on a normal computer.   I am sure these mysteries will allude me forever but I just wanted to let someone know that I share the same problem that you do.
